Delhi High Court bans Xiaomi from selling or importing phones in India:

In a surprise development, Delhi High Court on Monday seems to have granted an ex parteinjunction against Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi for allegedly infringing select Ericsson patents. As per the court order, Xiaomi is banned from selling, advertising, manufacturing or importing devices that infringe the patents in question.
According to report in SpicyIP, Xiaomi had not been responding to Ericsson’s repeated communication regarding the patent infringement, followed which the company filed a complaint with Delhi High Court.
The exact details about the patents in question are unclear right now, but Xiaomi has reportedly infringed some of Ericsson’s Standard and Essential patents.
In a statement to MediaNama, Xiaomi stated that it hasn’t received the court order, but it is looking for its options and remains committed to the Indian market.
“While we haven’t received an official notice from the Delhi High Court, our legal team is currently evaluating the situation based on the information we have. India is a very important market for Xiaomi and we will respond promptly as needed and in full compliance with Indian laws. Moreover, we are open to working with Ericsson to resolve this matter amicably,” said Manu Kumar Jain, India Head, Xiaomi in the statement.
I haven’t been able to find the high court order, but from what I can understand from the Spicy IP report, Xiaomi’s India operations are crippled until it gets a reprieve from the court and I don’t expect to see any more sales from the company during this period.
This isn’t the first smartphone maker, which has been sued by Ericsson in India. In the past, Ericsson has got favourable verdicts against Micromax and Gionee, but wasn’t so successful against Intex.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus: In deep

battle between Apple’s iPhone and a bevy of models based on Google’s Android. What wasn’t immediately obvious was that the two camps would persist in having radically different stances on how large a smartphone should be.
On one side: Apple, which has maintained that it’s essential that a phone be small enough to use comfortably with one hand. In the seven-plus years since the iPhone debuted, it’s bumped up the screen size only once, from the original 3.5 inches to the iPhone 5's taller-but-no-wider four inches.
On the other: makers of Android phones, who have always believed that bigger is better (in part because it was a a vulnerability for Apple). Every major Android flagship model of 2014 has a screen that’s at least five inches. And "phablets"—phones likeSamsung's Galaxy Note that are so spacious they’re practically tablets—go way beyond that.
It’s made buying decisions difficult for anyone who covets both seamlessness androominess.
No longer. While the most radical new feature may be Apple Pay, which aims to render your wallet full of plastic superfluous—and which won't arrive until October—the biggest news is that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are, well, big. And the question on everyone's mind is: Are they too big

What's different in iphone 6 and iphone 6 plus?

Since this is a two-fer review, let’s start by outlining the difference between both the new devices. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are like the Retina iPad Mini and the iPad Air, or like the 11- and 13-inch MacBook Airs. They’ve got mostly the same insides and design touches, with a handful of differences. Many things in this review will apply to both phones; when they don’t, we’ll be sure to specify which one we’re referencing.
Here’s a list of the major differences between the 6 and the 6 Plus, aside from their physical dimensions:
  • Screen size: iPhone 6 is 4.7 inches and 1334×750, iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5 inches and 1920×1080.
  • Battery: iPhone 6 is 1810mAh, iPhone 6 Plus is 2915mAh.
  • Camera: The iPhone 6 Plus adds optical image stabilization (OIS) to the same camera the iPhone 6 uses.
  • Software: The iPhone 6 Plus’ larger screen lets it do a few things the iPhone 6 can’t, though not without caveats.

Look and feel

Since the first iPhone 6 part leaks began, I’ve thought of the new design as the child of an iPhone 5 and an HTC One. Both of those phones share a mostly metal chassis with strips sliced out of it to let wireless signals through. But the iPhones retain distinctly Apple-esque design touches—symmetrical front bezels with the TouchID-equipped Home button, solid and creak-free construction, and an obsession-to-a-fault with thinness.
In most respects, both new iPhones are worthy of their predecessors. Apple’s build quality is characteristically excellent, and neither phone exhibits even a hint of creaking, flexing, or button-wobbling. The nicest change is that the hard edges of the iPhone 4- and 5-era designs have been expelled in favor of rounded edges that run all the way around the back of the phone. They blend (nearly) seamlessly with the gently curved glass on the front of the phone, making the whole thing comfortable to hold.
Though it’s larger and more curvy, the rest of the design should be pretty familiar if you’ve ever seen an iPhone. The Home button, still ringed by the TouchID fingerprint sensor, remains a mainstay, and this year’s version feels and sounds more rigid and clicky than the version in our 5S. The long rectangular volume buttons on the left edge of the phone under the mute switch resemble those used by the iPhone 5C or iPads rather than the round buttons of the iPhone 4 or 5. The power button has moved to the right edge of the phone, as with many larger Android phones; with devices this big, this placement is easier to hit with one hand than a button on top of the phone might be. The nano SIM tray still sits on the right edge of the phone.
The iPhone 6 design isn’t really doing a whole lot that’s new, not if you're paying attention to what any of the high-end Android and Windows phone hardware makers have been doing. But Apple takes many individual things that have been done well in other phones—those rounded edges, the curved glass, the larger, higher-resolution displays—and combines them all into one nicely assembled package. We only have two complaints about the new design, compared both to iPhones of past years and to the Android-based competition. And both, I suspect, stem from the aforementioned obsession with thinness.
The first complaint is that, compared to most recent Android handsets, the new iPhones don’t have a particularly good screen-to-bezel ratio. This is due in part to the TouchID button, a genuinely useful feature for which we’d gladly trade a smaller bezel. But especially in the iPhone 6 Plus, there’s plenty of extra bezel around the Touch ID button that feels like it could have been condensed, and Apple’s love of symmetry means any space shaved off of the bottom bezel could automatically be removed from the top bezel as well.

Why Redmi 1S Mobile Phones Get Sold Out in Minutes!

Why did 400,000 people register to buy 150,000 Xiaomi Redmi 1S phone last week, a phone which they have never seen at any mobile store, never held in their hands and still be willing to pay Rs 5999 (under $100), despite already having a well running primary phone. I usually do not buy phones online, but after much research, a Rs 6000 bet was one I was willing to take to buy another phone.

Here are all the goodies which came out of the small MI box. The bright orange battery is catchy and the free SIM tray and screen protector are a quick way to get started. The phone build is great, feels a little heavy – turn it on and the 4.7′ display is brilliant (1280 x 720 display with 312 ppi). You cannot compare it to a Samsung S5 or Apple iPhone or even the more expensive MI3 model, but it was a great buy for me for this price. Its just a day old for me, and as I use it more, I will know more about its good and bad features, which I will share.
I discovered here are some of the reasons these Mi Redmi 1S phones are just selling out before you can click Buy.
  1. Great product – There is no doubt the specs are good and they are providing a great product at a great price. You can create however much buzz you want, but if the product is not good, you simply cannot line up people to buy it, whatever the price.
  2. Great price – The prices cannot be beaten for the mobile specs. Under $100 mobile phone with the current specs is definitely a good buy. Of course it wont have the weight, screen, materials or the build to match a $500 phone, but for the money you are paying, its surely a great buy.
  3. Tight Supply - You cannot buy it off the market, or for that matter even buy it right now. You have to register to buy it only on Flipkart (So at least they can limit the serious buyers!) and then wait for the flash sale to start at a particular time and day. Then be logged in to grab the product in time as the countdown goes to zero, and the supply lasts a few minutes (depending on the number of mobile phone on sale).
  4. Viral buzz – Everyone wants one. Just as anything which is difficult to get, the Redmi 1S has generate enough buzz that 400,000 people registered to buy the 150,000 phones which went on sale recently. I was one of the buyers and kept a close watch on the events. The more the supply chain is tight, the more you publicize it, the more they want it.
  5. Strong Brands – The company Xiaomi is a well established Chinese brand and they found a strong Indian online brand partner in Flipkart to sell out the phones quickly. Flipkart is a big well established online brand, and people trust it enough to give out their credit card details and deliver an intact phone in time, with reliable post purchase support.
  6. Most wanted Freebies – My phone shipped with the Micro-SIM tray which allows me to use the smaller SIM into this phone, so I do not get surprised how to fit my SIM into this phone. It also ships with a screen protector, so I can start using my mobile phone right away without shopping for a screen guard first. It was a great move I think.
  7. Amazing MIUI – The MIUI is the preloaded version of their mobile software, which is a modified version of Android. So you get all your super useful Android tools, in a nice and clean interface which you will just love. In fact you might like what the new software version MIUI6 has in store when it is released.

  8. Needed Updates – Within 5 minutes of using the phone, I realized it was heating up fast. I was disappointed, and thought it was a price to pay for a cheaper phone. But surely it cant be an isolated issue, unless I got a bad phone. They identified the heating problem on their Facebook page, and I simply needed to update the software, which I did, and the heating issue was fixed! Of course are still on Android 4.3 (which is not the latest version) and I hope it will update soon).
In fact the buzz keeps continuing every week as the Flash sales keep happening on Flipkart every 1-2 weeks, and the demand will gradually decline as most users will grab the phone they wanted. Also note it made newspaper headlines recently when IAF raised a flag over security concerns, which prompted them to reply to concerns and promise Indian data centres by 2015.
